I realised that I needed to go further afield to find new specimens to study and that I could combine this with finding new merchants to sell to. I spoke to Lucan and bought a map and he gave me a quick lesson on weather and climate in each Hold. Although I have Nord heritage, I have lived my most of my life in warm vine-growing country and I am not acclimated to this constant chill. I’m going to avoid the North East and East but hoping to visit Markarth, Solitude and Morthal. He took pity on me and bought a couple of potions that had turned out particularly well. I also bought some supplies for the road, a backpack, an extra waterskin and some food.
The road to Falkreath was… what is wrong with people here? I was threatened by Vigilants of Stendarr (“walk always in the light or we will drag you to it”), found some bandits they’d dealt with (scavenged their corpses of course – ugh), got chased by a rabid necromancer and I only escaped because some bandits (who would have attacked me), were caught in his magic storm… I wish I were rich and could afford a bodyguard. However, all that running away got me to Falkreath in good time. It was starting to get late so I came off the road looking for a good place to camp, and I realised I could see the town just over the rise! I felt much better being able to camp in safety.
I was exhausted, so I just made camp, ate dinner and am about to sleep.
