post 21 of blaugust and part two of the gaming questionnaire.
11. Describe your perfect video game.
Well Skyrim pretty much has it nailed. Open, stunningly beautiful world to explore as and when and how I like, quests galore, complete freedom in how I build my character, housing and the Thieves Guild… I have lost myself in this game and sunk more hours into it than I am willing to admit.
12. What video game character do have you have a crush on?
I don’t normally have crushes on video game characters. There is one exception though… Alistair from Dragon Age… I had a soft spot for all my party members in Origins, all that time chatting in camp, giving them presents and fighting alongside them left an impression on me. The game is very absorbing in that way. Alistair was very well written and very well voiced. So yeah, I have to admit to a slight crush on him. OH OK AND Zevran :P His character progression was very sweet.
13. What game has the best music?
Any game that has a Jeremy Soule soundtrack (notably for me the Elder Scrolls series), the Lotro soundtrack is also very good (especially the Chance Thomas pieces). Vanguard’s soundtrack was very good too, along with Dragon Age’s.
14. Most memorable moment in a game:
I think its back to Dragon Age. After much googling and deliberation, I had decided that my warden would be the one who had to make the ultimate sacrifice rather than Alistair. I had put a lot of effort in to get Alistair next in line for the Kingship and I had also refused Morrigan’s solution. So I chose my normal party for the final quest (myself, Alistair, Wynne and Zevran). After we had battled our way to the top of the tower and were getting ready to face the dragon, I announced that I would be making the sacrifice. Only to have Alistair refuse because he loved my char too much to let her die, and then he rushed off and sacrificed himself… Honestly my face must have been hilarious – I was shocked and cross yet strangely pleased… I had to redo the ending lol.
I have to include this screenshot as one of the funniest I took during Dragon Age (I probably shouldn’t laugh as it’s one of the good guys but well…)
15. Scariest moment in a game:
don’t laugh, but creepers in Minecraft really make me jump – lalala digging away *hiss* argh! panic! *boom* The oblivion gates in Oblivion used to fill me with dread too – horrible scary landscape with horrible daedric monsters everywhere…
16. Most heart-wrenching moment in a game:
There is a specific game moment that I am trying to remember but I just can’t. Whatever it was, it would be shared with the last moments of Vanguard were pretty sad too.
17. What are your favourite websites/blogs about games?
If you could see my blogroll (yeah I haven’t finished sorting out a new theme with widgets yet :P) that would answer that :) It will be back soon.
18. What’s the last game you finished?
Most of the games I play are open ended. So I guess Dragon Age 2 is the last major RPG I finished, Skyrim is sort of finished – I’ve completed the main quests but not all the DLC and even though I’ve finished the quests there, that game is not over until you say it is.
19. What future releases are you most excited about?
Dragon Age: Inquisition
20. Do you identify as a gamer?
I don’t know, maybe sometimes. When I’m blogging, playing or chatting with gaming friends, yes. When I’m not in that environment, probably not so much.
21. Why do you play video games?
Its what I like to do to relax – I like to escape and pretend to be somewhere else for a while. Similar reasons to why I read books I suppose, except with video games you’re in control.
